The Story Behind Barrel & Stone
To provide distinctive, quality painted furniture and personalized craftsmanship at a reasonable price.
Our Beginning
Barrel & Stone Interiors was built from Chad McDaniel's love for antiques and his ability to see potential in furniture others might overlook.
More than 25 years ago, Chad began buying and selling antique furniture while experimenting with different painting and finishing techniques. What began during the early days of white-painted, shabby-chic furniture gradually developed into a recognizable finishing style and detailed seven-step process.
The Signature Process
As the work evolved, so did the range of furniture. Hand-painted dressers and armoires grew into upholstered seating, headboards, mirrors, reclaimed wood furnishings, farm tables, custom transformations, and kitchen cabinet refresh projects.
Furniture With Individual Character
Through every stage of that growth, the purpose remained consistent: create quality painted furniture at a reasonable price and give each individual piece the attention its character deserves. Every refreshed piece is hand-finished from beginning to completion, and no two pieces are exactly alike.

The work serves homeowners, interior designers, shop owners, collectors, and customers with inherited furniture that deserves another chapter.

Meet the maker
Chad McDaniel
Roughly 25 to 30 years of buying, restoring, building, and hand-finishing furniture, from a Maryland workshop.
Chad has spent close to three decades learning what furniture can become. He buys pieces others walk past, studies how they were made, and finishes them by hand until the character that was always there finally shows.
That work has been sold and shipped throughout the United States, and the reputation built around it now reaches from Maine to Florida. For close to 30 years he has also showcased at the Scott show in Atlanta, where collectors, designers, and dealers see the work in person.
His furniture has been featured in Veranda magazine, and pieces have found their way to customers including Paula Deen and Tommy Hilfiger, as well as appearing in connection with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Every piece is custom and one of a kind. No two will ever be exactly alike, and that is the whole reason people come looking.

Every Barrel & Stone piece is individually crafted. Natural variations in materials and the handmade process ensure that no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
Photographs represent the design and character of a piece. Because each piece is finished by hand, small variations in color, distressing, and grain should be expected.
Where to Find Us
There are no walk-in showroom hours at this time. Furniture is sold online, by appointment, and through selected partner locations and seasonal markets, which are confirmed before they are listed.
